I love me some japadog. They have such a large selection of types of dogs you want and even have vegan options. The shoyu fries will make you want to slap yo mama!
Located at the center of Vancouver, this place provides delicious and fairly reasonably priced Japanese style hot dogs. The bright colors of the restaurant make it clearly visible without being obnoxious, and the inside demonstrates the history of the curious treat they sell. In addition to the striking name and concept, the building itself looks distinct and iconic. The hot dogs themselves are fine without being exceptional: what makes them special are the toppings, which include ingredients like soba noodles and teriyaki sauce. There are a few more conventional, more typically North American flavors, but I highly recommend the more distinctly Japanese ones, as those are what makes this place special. Hot dogs with seaweed might not seem initially delightful, but this place makes that combination and others like it work in a delicious and eccentric way.
The avocado japadog is one of my all time faves. I ate that along with a mango milkshake. The dog didn’t disappoint. The Avo was Perfection paired with the mayo sauce they put on top. Together it was creamy making each bite a delight. The mango shake was really nice. Not super sweet and not a very strong mango flavor, it as just right.
Hot diggity dog, it's been a while since I had a Japadog but it's still the top dog for me. To celebrate their 20th(!) anniversary, Japadog is giving away free hot dogs from May 1-3: Korubata Terimayo, Okonomi, or Beef Bacon Cheese. I went with their classic Korubata Terimayo and it was as delicious as I remember. The Korubata pork sausage was so juicy and had some snap to it from the grill; it perfectly complemented the soft texture of the hot dog bun. With the fried onions, teriyaki sauce, Japanese mayo, and seaweed, it was the perfect combination of sweet and savoury. I got there right at 5pm and only waited 30 minutes. Japadog's small but mighty team was so well-organized, efficient, and friendly. There was even a staff member dressed as a hot dog which I found so endearing and funny. Congrats, Japadog, on an incredible 20 years in Vancouver and thank you again for the delicious hot dog. You are a staple in our city. Here's to another 20!
Friendly team & compact establishment. Had the No. 2 Okonomi with Japanade (original). What a fantastic combo! The Japadog was delicious. The Japanade was refreshing & lightly sweetened. I was craving a light savory lunch & this meal totally hit the spot. Glad i had the chance to stop by. One of my top 5 meals in Vancouver!
A twist on the standard hot dog. So amazing. We were at the Robson St location in Vancouver. Service was great. Place is super small but has plenty of space outside. We'll be back.
Tried Japadog, and it was one of the most delicious hot dogs I’ve ever had! The unique Japanese flavors, soft bun, and perfect combination of sauces make this place a must-visit. Fast service and a great atmosphere – definitely 5 stars! Highly recommend everyone to try it!
Went here because it was on a Bourdain list and was so happy to stop in for a quick bite. There were so many options it was hard to choose, but while the price was high for a hotdog, it was quality ingredients and unique combinations of flavors. I’d definitely like to return to test out other hot dogs!
